Kentucky defeats Auburn to clinch 49th regular SEC conference title

Kentucky looks to clinch their 37th regular season SEC title with a win over Auburn today.

Auburn gets on the board with a 3, EJ Montgomery with a free throw gets the Cats on the board.  Tigers with an early lead after another 3, 6-3. Auburn with an 8-7 lead. Nate Sestina gives the Cats the lead but Auburn responds with a 3 to take it back. Tigers with a 16-9 lead, Kentucky needs to get it together so we don’t have a repeat of the beginning of the month. Auburn gets two free throws to make it a 9 point lead, Tyrese Maxey finally gets Kentucky some points but Auburn stuffs it to make 20-11. Nate Sestina with a bucket and the Cats get within one, but Tigers answer with a 3. Kentucky ties it up at 23, Immanuel Quickley with free throws to give Kentucky the lead 25-23. Kentucky has it up to 31-23 after more free throws. Kentucky is up to 33-30 after the Tigers have scored a few baskets. Nate Sestina with the first 3 of the game, Wildcats up 40-33.  Kentucky with a 40-37 lead after the Tigers gets two more before the buzzer.

Kentucky starts the second half with a bucket, and then a free throw from Nick Richards. Auburn scores four, Kentucky at the line for free throws and Tyrese Maxey gets one. Immanuel Quickley with a 3, Kentucky is up 47-41. Auburn gets a 3 to make it 47-44. Kentucky makes it a seven point lead, 51-44. Auburn has cut it down to 3, 53-50. Kentucky gets both free throws from Quickley but the Tigers get a 3 pointer to make it 55-53. Kentucky is up to 61-58. Nick Richards with both free throws makes it a 71-64 Wildcat lead. Kentucky defeats Auburn 73-66 to clinch their 49th regular season SEC title.

Kentucky hosts Tennessee this Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN for our last home game of the season.
