Tennessee comes back from 17 point deficit to defeat Kentucky at Rupp

Kentucky plays their last home game of the season hosting Tennessee, tonight is the last home game of grad transfer Nate Sestina.

Kentucky on the board first with a bucket by Tyrese Maxey, he goes to the line for free throws to make it a 5-0 Kentucky lead. Tennessee gets on the board and we are all tied up at 7-7. Tennessee takes their first lead but Kentucky takes it back after Ashton Hagans attempts  a 3 pointer but gets them in free throws, and EJ stuffs it and then a goal tend, 14-9. Back to back three pointers from Johnny Juzang and Tyrese Maxey put the Cats up 20-11. Vols with two three pointer and they are heating up. Johnny Juzang with another 3 and Kentucky is up 34-24. Kentucky leads 42-31 at the half.

Kentucky with a good start in the second half as they go on a 4-0 run, 46-31. Kentucky is up 51-39. Tennessee with another three to make it 53-46 as the Vols has gone on a 12-2 run. Tyrese Maxey answers with a 3 of his own to make it 56-46. Tennessee closes in and they take the lead, 61-60. Wildcats tie it up at 63 but Tennessee hits a 3 to make it 66- 65. Tennessee hits free throws and its 68-65. Volunteers have only won 5 times in Rupp Arena, 2018 being the last. It’s starting to look like they’ll make it 6 as they still have a 4 point lead with less than a minute to go, 74-70. Tennessee defeats Kentucky 81-73 after a 17 point deficit in the second half.

Kentucky closes up their regular season this Saturday as they travel to Gainesville to take on Florida at 1 p.m. ET on CBS
