Kentucky vs. Houston 2019 Midwest Sweet 16

Kentucky and Houston went head to head in the 2019 Midwest Sweet Sixteen game in Kansas City, Missouri on March 29, 2019.

Houston starts the game with a 3 pointer, Kentucky on the board with a basket. Keldon Johnson with a basket to give the Cats the lead. Robinson for the Cougars, a basket, to put them back up front. Reid Travis with a basket, but Houston responds with a basket of their own. Washington scores a basket for the Cats. Cougars make one of two free throws and we are tied up at 10-10. Ashton Hagans with a layup to put the Cats up top. Houston at the line makes both to tie us again. Travis makes both free throws; they go on a little run before Houston scores, 21-14. Kentucky with a basket and the Cougars play catch up as they score 6 points to be within just 3 points, 23-20. PJ Washington at the line for Kentucky, he makes both to put more space between the Cats and Cougars. Keldon Johnson with a 3 pointer for the Cats gives them their largest lead at 28-20. Cats on an 18-8 run after Herro with a basket, 30-20. Houston at the line, Cory Davis makes both, 30-22. Tyler Herro for two, he makes both making that 38 in a row, and 68 of his last 69, 32-24. Immanuel Quickley with a 3 pointer for the Cats. Kentucky leads 37-26 at half time.

Tyler Herro with the first points of the second half, he’s up to 10, Cats with a 39-26 lead. Houston starts the second half at the line, making both for their first points of the half, Brooks for Houston with a 3 pointer, PJ Washington responds with a 3 pointer of his own. Cougars with another 3 pointer, Herro with a basket, Cats 43-34. Cougars with 4 more points and Kentucky finally scores after a little drought with a basket by Nick Richards. Armani Brooks with a 3 pointer, for Houston. Tyler Herro with a basket for the Cats, Houston at the line for two, only makes one. Kentucky to the line, Washington misses both they still lead 47-42. Cougars within two after a 3 pointer by Armani Brook, at the line for two, miss the first but make the second down to one. PJ Washington with much needed basket for the Cats, Armani Brooks responds with a 3 pointer to tie up the game, 49-49, his fifth 3 pointer. Cougars with the lead after a basket from Corey Davis Jr. PJ at the line for the Cats, making both to tie up the game, 51-51. Brooks with a 3 pointer from downtown extending the Cougar lead but Travis at the line for the Cats, he makes the first one, and the second as well to bring in within just one. Ashton Hagans at the line makes both to give the Cats the lead back, 55-54. Cougars back up top now with a basket or two. PJ Washington with a basket and a foul heading to the line, misses and Cougars lead by one. Tyler Herro with a 3 pointer puts the Cats back up top with less than 30 seconds left. Kentucky goes on to defeat Houston 62=58 to advance to the Elite Eight taking on Auburn.
