The Lady Cats took on Murray State before they head home for the holidays and improved to 12-1. Kentucky was led by Freshman Rhyne Howard who notched 25 points, Jaida Roper who scored a career-high, 15 and Maci Morris with 13 points in the victory. Taylor Murray added 12 points, six assists and four steals in the Kentucky victory.
The Wildcats scored the first four points of the game on a jumper by Morris and a layup from Murray. Murray State answered, scoring five points in a row to take the lead 5-4. We had our first tie of the game at 7-7 before the Wildcats took the lead at 10-8 before the Racers would run off with eight points in a row to take the lead again, 16-10. Kentucky closed the quarter on a 6-0 run. Kentucky showed some energy to tie the game at 20 to end the 1st quarter.
Murray State hit eight of its 12 shots from the field in the quarter but had 10 turnovers in the first 10 minutes of the game. Kentucky hit eight of 17 from the field and the Wildcats scored 12 points off the Racer’s turnovers.

Early in the quarter the teams traded the lead before a 6-0 Wildcat run and gave Kentucky a 30-25 lead. Kentucky would score the last eight points of the quarter, six of them were by Morris as part of an 18-3 run. The Wildcats headed to the locker room with a 14 point advantage after an 8-0 run to close the quarter. Morris led all scorers with 13 points in the first half.

Kentucky began the third quarter with another run as they scored the first nine points to build a 51-28 lead. Later they held a 55-34 lead before assembling a 13-1 run, fueled by back to back 3 pointers by Rhyne Howard, to lead 68-35.

Kentucky closed the game with Murray State cutting the lead to 29 on a couple of occasions, but Kentucky would continue to build their lead, with the final score being the largest lead of the game. The Wildcats also held advantages in rebounding (39-29), bench points (32-16), second chance points (12-5), and points in the paint (34-24).
