Maci Morris (17 points) and Jaida Roper (12 points) helped No. 18 Kentucky cruised past Sacred Heart at Memorial Coliseum in their last game before their conference slate starts. With Morris’s effort today, she moved to 15th place on the UK career scoring list, passing former Wildcat great Jodie Whitaker. Morris now has 1,434 points and counting for her UK career. Taylor Murray added 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Rhyne Howard had a career-high 15 rebounds. The Wildcats hit 27 of their 77 shots (35.1%) while the Pioneers were just 14 of 52 (26.9 %). Sacred Heart also committed 17 turnovers that Kentucky turned into 18 points.
The first 3 points went to Maci Morris. Sacred Heart would answer with the next four points to take the 4-3 lead before going cold and missing five in a row. KeKe McKinney connected on a jumper to give Kentucky a 1 point lead which started a 6-0 run for Kentucky giving them a 9-4 lead. Sacred Heart battled with Kentucky and stormed back with a 9-3 run to take the lead once again. Morris would shoot another 3 giving Kentucky back the lead going into the 2nd quarter despite just shooting six of their 24 FG attempts.

The second quarter started with a 6-2 run as Kentucky’s defense made the Pioneers miss 8 shots from the field. The Wildcats took a 23-15 lead before SHU scored 5 straight to cut the lead to three. Kentucky answered scoring the last 10 points, including 5 from Morris. Kentucky made 12 of 30 field goal attempts in the first half and the defense did an outstanding job as Sacred Heart made only seven of twenty-nine of their first-half attempts. Morris led all scorers with 13 points in the first 20 minutes.

Sacred Heart started the third quarter with two free throws before the Wildcats went on a 14-0 run to keep the lead. The Cats held Sacred Heart without a field goal for the first several minutes of the quarter and built a 26 point advantage. Kentucky would hit nine of its first 13 shots before missing the last seven. Murray led UK with 9 points
