This is a historic matchup between the No. 9 North Carolina Tarheels and No. 19 Kentucky Wildcats at the 2018 CBS Sports Classic in Chicago, IL. Kentucky came here and showed just how hungry they were against a Top 10 team.
Reid Travis proved early he can do it all. The big man had six points early coming on an old-fashioned three and one behind the arc. Early on, the lead changed hands several times, but no one was able to pull away. Travis poured in seven points in the first 5 minutes. Despite the game slowing down, Travis continued to impose his will on both ends if the floor. Ashton Hagans tallied three points, two assists, and a block early on and made his impact felt as well. The Cats were able to stay ahead of the Heels throughout the first half taking advantage of 10 turnovers from North Carolina. Heading into the break, the Cats have a nine-point lead and are led by Travis who poured in 16 points on 5-7 shooting and hitting five free throws.

Kentucky started the second half with a three by freshman, Keldon Johnson to stretched the lead to 12. The Tar Heels stayed in the game and fought back within six points over the next few minutes. Tyler Herro knocked down a big three to stretch the Kentucky lead a little further, but Carolina continued to answer. Keldon Johnson then knocked down a big three to put the Cats back up 8 late in the game. Kentucky is able to pull away late behind 20+ point performances by Johnson and Travis, as well as a solid all-around performance from PJ Washington.
