Kentucky opens up their season taking on Murray State, but they will be without Rhyne Howard and Tatyana Wyatt after they were suspended. Howard will miss two games, and Wyatt will miss three games starting today.
Murray State out to an early 2-0 start over Kentucky, Murray State with a free throw, but Chasity Patterson gets Kentucky on the board with a 3 pointer. It has been all Chasity as she has all of Kentucky’s 9 points, 6 of them being from 3 pointers. Olivia Owens with her first points as a Wildcat, Kentucky is up 11-5. Several more Wildcats add to the Kentucky score and they extend their lead, and Murray State responds, 17-7. Back and forth between these two teams but Kentucky maintains their lead. Kentucky has a 30-14 leads after one.
Murray State starts the 2nd quarter but Chasity is right behind them with a 3 pointer. Murray State with one as well and we are back and forth again as Kentucky maintain the lead. Chasity with back to back free throws making all four, Treasure Hunt with a 3 pointer, puts the Cats up 44-21. Chasity Patterson ends the second quarter with making both of her free throws; Kentucky leads Murray State 51-26 at halftime.
Racers go on a 5-0 run to be 51-31 before the Cats went on a 6-0 run with a jumper by Patterson, layup by Edwards, and a layup by Patterson. Kentucky maintains their leads as Chasity leads everyone in points so far with 29 points. Several other Cats keep it going and the Cats leads 72-46 after three.
Blair Green starts in the fourth with a 3 pointer for the Cats, and KeKe McKinney with a layup, the Racers with back to back layups as the Cats lead 77-50 roughly 2 minutes into the quarter. Kentucky is still outscoring the Racers in the fourth as they extend their lead but they catch up even though Kentucky leads 85-59.
