15th ranked Kentucky will host Alabama at Rupp Arena this Thursday as they continue SEC play. The Wildcats are coming off a 70-53 loss to 25th ranked Tennessee this past Sunday that snapped a 3 game winning streak against the Lady Vols. This matchup marks one of two games where Kentucky will host their opponent at Rupp Arena. This game will be televised on SEC Network with a 6:30 p.m. tipoff; the Cats are 28-19 at Rupp Arena. Chasity Patterson with a team high 15 points, and Rhyne Howard right behind her with 14 points of her own. Patterson also had five steals and four assists, while Howard added three rebounds and three steals. Chasity Patterson’s defensive efforts so far had her selected to the 2020-2021 Naismith Women’s Defensive Player of the Year watch list, she leads the nation with 60 steals, which is 9 more than second place, and 15 more than third place. Howard still leads the team as she is averaging 23.2 points and 6.8 rebounds.
Kentucky is 11-4 overall and 4-3 in the SEC, while Alabama is 12-2 overall and 5-2 in the SEC. Kentucky and Alabama met twice last season and they defeated them both times, the first was in Tuscaloosa where the Cats would get a 81-71 victory on January 9, Rhyne Howard scored 43 points in that game. They would meet again at Memorial Coliseum on February 6th, Kentucky defeated them 66-62. Kentucky leads the Crimson Tide 33-17 in their series, they are 15-6 in Lexington and they have won 18 of the last 20 meetings which includes 9 straight games.
