Akhator Pushes the Lady Cats Past Alabama

Evelyn Akhator scored 23 of Kentucky’s 65 points to help the Wildcats advance in the SEC Tournament. Now, the Wildcats have to go against the 5th ranked team in the nation and the top seed in the tournament in South Carolina. That game will take place at 5 PM on ESPNU. Let’s get this one!

UK Hoops Got an Upset Last Night

Shout out to Addison Martinez for reminding me about the big win for the Lady Cats last night!

Harrison Picks Kentucky!

Dorie Harrison is a 6’3″ post player from Nashville, TN. Prospect’s nation has her ranked as the 78th ranked player in the ’17 class.

Matthew Mitchell was able to pull her away from her in-state juggernaut in Women’s Basketball, Tennessee. That to me is the most impressive part of her commitment! She had offers from Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Mississippi, Syracuse and Virginia Tech. I look forward to watching Dorie play in the blue and white next year!

Women’s Basketball gets some more good news

Things are starting to build for Matthew Mithchell and the Women’s basketball program! They secured another commitment this week from a Stony Brook transfer. Ogechi Anyagaligbo, will have to sit out this upcoming season but will have three years of eligibility left. She is a 6 foot forward from Miami and was awarded America East Rookie of the Year for this past season. She averaged 10.1 points and 9 rebounds per year for Stony Brook and had a career high of 23 points against LIU and posted 9 double-doubles last year.

It’s safe to say Mitchell is turning the program around with the additions to staff and the commitments he has received lately. I expect we will hear more good news like this in the very near future! Go follow Ogechi Anyagaligbo on Twitter @Triple_Ogg and show her your support!

Mitchell adds Lin Dunn to his staff

Matthew Mitchell is continuing his upward momentum today as he adds a former WNBA coach to his staff.

Lin Dunn has over 40 years of coaching experience including a WNBA title!

Here’s a link to the ukathletics story.
I personally believe this is HUGE for the program and will pay big dividends!

My interview with UK’s newest commit – Jaida Roper

Q: Who primarily recruited you and why did you choose UK?

A: Coach Elzy, I went on my official visit and absolutely fell in love with the campus, environment, and the staff.

Q: Who would you say your style of play most compares to?

A: I would say my favorite point guard is Tony Parker. His basketball IQ is through the roof and he is a leader. I try to mold my game similar to his.

Q: What do you hope to accomplish at UK?

A: I want to come into the program and put us in the best position to win! One thing you’ll always get from me is hard work and a great attitude. With that I think anything is possible.

Q: Is there a current player or prospect you look forward to playing with?

A: Yes of course I look forward to play with everyone. Everyone has been telling me how they can’t wait to see me play with Makayla, so, it should be fun.

Q: Do you believe Coach Mitchell can maintain the level of success after the issues in the recent past?

A: Yes, I have a lot of faith in coach Mitchell. I feel that he is a great person and even better coach.

Q: Are you currently watching anything on Netflix?

A: Yes, How to Get Away with Murder and Prison Break are my favs

Q: What’s your favorite restaurant and what do you order?

A: Fast food has to be Chick-fil-A and my other is Longhorns and the Parmesan crusted chicken is the best.

Q: What’s your most used emoji?

A: 🐐 The G.O.A.T.

I want to thank Jaida for taking the time to answer a few questions and I for one think she will be a great leader in the very near future!

Great news for the Lady Cats
